Mayville Man Dies After Easter Morning Stabbing


A 30-year-old Mayville man later succumbed to his injuries after a stabbing on Sunday morning. At 6:33 a.m., the Mayville Police Department responded to an EMS call in the 1000 block of Horicon Street for a report of a subject with lacerations.

Upon arrival, officers found a 30-year-old male who was bleeding and had multiple cuts on his abdomen and chest. The man was conscious upon the officers’ arrival and was transported to Aurora Summit Medical Center where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Police also found a second male subject, a 29-year-old- in an upstairs bedroom. The man also had cuts on his hands and forearm area and was transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Mayville Police Chief Jeff Ketchem said there is no threat to the public at this time regarding this incident. “The Mayville Police Department would like to assure the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” Ketchem said in a release Monday afternoon.

As of press time, this matter was still under investigation. Assisting the MPD were the Horicon Police Department, Mayville EMS, Theresa EMS and the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office.
