TOWN OF OCONOMOWOC — After drawing thousands and lighting up the field next to Stone Bank Elementary School, the sunflowers have gone past their peak beauty, the Stonebank Sunflower Farm said on its Facebook page Thursday.
“We want to thank everyone who visited and those that have contributed to the Stone Bank Beautification Fund,” the page stated. The page is asking others to spread the word that the drive and time commitment is no longer worth it as the sunflowers aren’t as visually stunning as they were earlier in the summer.
Each sunflower will naturally dry out and will be harvested and made into sunflower oil at Century Sun Oil LLC based out of Pulaski.
The harvest will take place in late September or early October.
