A series of casual discussions named “Tuesday Tech Talks” will explore free tools available to Mayville Public Library card holders to use on their smart phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, other mobile devices, or in the library.

The series is free to library cardholders and no registration is necessary. Tech talks will be held in the library’s meeting room. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Lea Hoard, library technical services, will present “Libby by Overdrive Ebooks and Eaudiobooks,” an app for mobile access to ebooks and eudiobooks.

“It’s so much easier than going through an ebooks site,” pointed out Alixe Bielot, library director. Download books and audiobooks for offline reading, or stream them to save space. With the app, books can be sampled without downloading, sent to individual Kindle devices if desired and be zoomable for graphic novels or a picture book with readalong audio.

Patrons can discover so much more about Libby when they attend next Tuesday’s Tech Talk. On October 8, the tech talk will focus on the Monarch Library Catalog and Monarch- To-Go app, and on November 12, patrons can become acquainted with Rbdigital emagazines and eaudiobooks. On December 10, Gale courses, available through the Monarch catalog, will be explored.

The library is located at 111 N. Main St. in Downtown Mayville.
