The Fulton City Commission met in a brief session Monday, before adjourning into executive session to discuss personnel and pending litigation. No action was taken during the executive session.
The commission heard from Eric Dunsford, a Murray State University student who is completing internship at city hall. Dunsford thanked the city manager and commission for the opportunity to see government in action, and expressed his concerns over what he sees as the city’s lack of active participation in school related activities.
Jeff Watts also addressed the commission regarding the Hickman Animal Shelter. City Manager Kenney Etherton told Watts that maintaining the shelter is the responsibility of the City of Hickman, and that periodic checks by the City of Fulton will be done.
Mayor Elaine Forrester advised the commission that the City of Fulton will be receiving a state grant for $80,000, for improvements to the entrance at Letica Corporation. Although only a verbal commitment has been received, State Senator Ken Winters has assured the city the funding will be approved.
