87

This year, the Lomira QuadGraphics Community Library has planned a wide variety of educational, entertaining and fun programs to keep children of all ages busy all summer long. Reading and completing reading records will be rewarded with some amazing prizes and a chance to win one of the grand prizes as well. Summer is a great time to take the opportunity to read or listen to a book that has been on your wish list to get to and to discover great new books.

The programs and events in the next few months are here to help you enjoy the upcoming summer days. This year’s children’s program, “On Your Mark, Get Set… Read” will run from Monday, June 6 through August 5. Children aged birth through twelfth grade may register for the summer reading program anytime during the summer prior to the start date. Even babies and toddlers can sign up and participate by being read to because it’s never too early to start enjoying the love of reading.

Also new this year, adults can sign up for a reading log and be eligible to win fun prizes. Reading records can be turned in from Monday, June 13 through Saturday, August 5 to win prizes, coupons, local park passes and even a free book. For the little readers, weekly storytime is held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Storytime is geared for children birth through age five and features themed stories, songs, games and craft projects.

There is also a special evening storytime this summer on Monday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. – pajamas and stuffed animals welcome. From amazing animals to emergency heroes and Wildlife Olympics, there is something for everyone at the evening programs for elementary aged students. Young adults can also join in the fun for craft days, cupcake wars and gaming nights. To celebrate the end of the program, everyone is invited to the wrap-up party with ice cream, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and face painting by Rachel Heron.

The Summer Reading Program is made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Lomira Library, the Library Board, and numerous local businesses and community service groups.
