NYPD probes death of man, 50, garroted at Manhattan shelter

Cops are investigating the suspicious death of a 50-year-old man found with a thin wire wrapped around his neck in a city homeless shelter in Kips Bay, police and sources said.

NYC HOMELESS PREFER STREETS TO VIOLENT SHELTERS 

A security guard found the man with a deep gash to his throat on a blood-soaked bed in the Bellevue Men’s Shelter on E. 30th St. near First Ave. about 8:20 a.m. Friday.

Police are trying to determine whether the man was murdered or committed suicide. His name was not immediately released.
