According to Schefter, Dixon won't require surgery on his knee. He had exited Saturday night's clash against the Lions with what the team announced was a knee sprain.

The 22-year-old was the Ravens' fourth-round pick (No. 134 overall) in the 2016 NFL draft. Coming into the 2016 campaign, he had a legitimate shot to earn major playing time, with Justin Forsett struggling with injuries in 2015 and javorius allen showing a limited upside.

With Forsett always likely to be the starter, however, Dixon still has the skill-set to contribute as a receiver out of the backfield, a valuable trait in a Marc Trestman offense. His quickness and agility mean he projects to have big-play ability, and he looks like a three-down back if he is able to ascend to the starting role in Baltimore.

Certainly, Dixon and Allen had the opportunity to make the Ravens backfield a committee situation this season. While Forsett has been excellent in the team's scheme when healthy over the past two seasons, he's never been considered an elite option at the position and will turn 31 in October.

With Dixon sidelined, Allen is likely to play a bigger role behind Forsett, while Lorenzo Taliaferro or Terrance West will likely slide into the RB3 role.
