Billy Bush: My ADD is off the charts

Billy Bush owes his success in broadcasting to having attention deficit disorder.

“I was diagnosed with ADD when I was young and the doctor tried to give me Ritalin, and my mom said, ‘No.’ It was just her choice at the time, but I’ve lived with it,” he told students at a Samsung internship Q&A. “I went and had myself tested a little while ago with this doctor at UCLA and sure enough — off the charts. [My] ADD is off the charts! But I think about it and it’s really . . . ADA — attention deficit advantage. It’s just the other thing. Things they’re not interested in goes by the wayside, but when you [have ADD and] find what you are interested in, there’s a laser focus to it. And it’s helped me be good at what I do.”

The “Today’s Take” host said he also has his old “Access Hollywood” boss Rob Silverstein to thank.“He always stood up for me and always supported me, and I always felt it,” Bush said.

“It gives me confidence . . . That kind of support, you earn that, but it’s important.”
